sweatshop yoga

check out the lovely & supremely awesome kimmu's london yoga class, the sweatshop.  classes that were previously taught in nyc are now available in islington and soho! 

girl, you amaze me.  how do you have time with school, traveling, web-designing to teach?  if i had your discipline, i'd be ... in school, traveling, web-designing and teaching.   could my post baby tofu-like jiggle ever aspire to become something that resembles her rock hard arms?  it's uncertain, even with the 14 pounds of pure chub-chub i lift up and down.

kim also designed joyce's bakeshop website.  and many others!  isn't she so tyaaa-lented? 

sugar, spice & everything nice

joyce is scheduled to open her bakery in prospect park, brooklyn on august 30th.  we're convinced it's going to be the next hot spot, and the new york times, time out, and other new york publications are springing for her door!

if you haven't tasted her cupcakes, you don't know heaven.  and if your mouth doesn't start watering looking at her website, check tatestbuds are in working order.

i'm proud to say that the cupcake tree was from one of the warmest, most memorable days of my life - my bridal shower.  i wish i could have another one just to have more cupcakes.

news at ten. with a mullet.

can't sleep ...can't pump ... thinking of when to return to the office, mid-september or early october. my boss is nice enough to stop by tuesday for a visit and see the little guy, so we'll have a chat about it. 

reading news stories and connecting to the city again and maybe wearing non-breastmilk stained clothes for a change sounds nice.  those tiny chinese-sized suits meant for my pint sized colleagues will see who's boss as my enormous back and post-partum tummy test their seams.  though i want to start losing weight, i run around half-starved most of the time and even after a full meal, i could swim through a vat of chocolate chip ice cream chomping all the way - so no luck there.  did i exercise before i got pregnant?  no.  during?  no.  and with breastfeeding, my appetite seems to have doubled since my pregnancy.  am i looking at dusty covers of yoga videos ordered of amazon during delusional inspiration point?  yes.

i WILL and dread having to cut and scultpt my hair into the news anchor rock-hard hairsprayed mullet, sported with na'er a shred of irony.  hm.  but maybe mullets can be slimming?

here's pink in your eye

xiao ping came to work today with pink eye, which kids are notorious for catching.  i was pretty upset that she didn't seem to have any intention of telling me, even after i asked her pretty pointedly about it yesterday.  she's painfully shy, so communication is a pretty big issue since sometimes you just don't get a response.  maybe she couldn't see through her pink eye.  she's also 27, so sometimes i feel she dodges questions with a very sweet smile, but using her lack of experience for explanation.  i want to be optimistic, but had to lay down some ground rules today - like don't come to work if you're sick.  since allesandro and beatrice were so happy with her, i will give her some time.  it's hard because wu ayi is so pushy and never listened, whereas xiao ping very slow, but so far, open to suggestion. geez, have i become the dreaded bullying, overprotective mom already?
